Easter Egg Ribbon Clip Tutorial

Little E is finally getting enough hair to be able to pull it to the side with a clip.  Guys.  This is a huge victory!

So I decided to play around with some ribbon and come up with a cute little Easter Egg ribbon clip.  It's fairly simple and takes less than 10 minutes.

Here's what you'll need to get started:

4.5" length of 3/8" wide light pink ribbon
4.75"  length of 3/8" wide polka dot ribbon
3.75"  length of 3/8" wide lavender ribbon
2.75"  length of 3/8" wide light pink ribbon
alligator clip*
tiny bow embellishment

*you can find alligator clips in the findings aisle of your craft store, but you can get a box of 100 for around $5 at a beauty supply and they are great quality!

Make sure to heat seal the ends of your ribbon with a lighter to prevent fraying!

Glue each of the ribbons (excluding the 4.5" ribbon) into a teardrop shape.

Stack your teardrops, with the smallest on the bottom and glue at the top points.

Snip the point off the top to create more of an egg shape & heat seal the ends.

Glue your bow embellishment to the top of your egg.  This will also cover the ends.

Line your clip using hot glue and the guide below:

Glue the top of the egg securely to the tip of the clip using your hot glue gun. The pinch part of the clip should be at the bottom of the egg.

There you have it!  You can of course use your own color combos - make a dozen and put them in Easter Eggs or use them to fill Easter baskets! :)

Clovers For Collins 2013

You may have noticed a little button over there on the left side of my blog.  Clovers For Collins is back in full swing for 2013!   We've got clovers available for a $5 donation plus giveaways and auctions.  100% of the proceeds from clovers and auctions will go to this year's charities, Magic Hour Foundation and Drake's Doodlebugs.

Clovers For Collins was started by a group of May 2011 moms.  While we were all celebrating the births of our babies, one of us lost her precious son just 37 hours after his birth.  Last year, Clovers For Collins was started as a way to keep his memory alive.  It quickly became apparent that many of our supporters had their own Collins.

Please stop by and like Clover For Collins on Facebook! Choose one of these lovely handmade clovers or bid on an auction item!

Drake's Doodlebugs is a division of Project Sweet Peas and provides care packages and memory boxes to NICU families. Christy started Drake's Doodlebugs in memory of her son, Drake.  You can read their story here

Magic Hour Foundation provides free professional photography sessions to people fighting cancer and survivors. Grab some tissue and read about how they started here.
