Santa Hat Tree

I don't know if you noticed the Santa hat tree in my Christmas mantle post, but I thought I'd work up a little tutorial in case you have some last minute decorating to do, or if you maybe wanted to, I don't know, pin it for next year. ;) This is so quick & easy. It took me literally minutes to make.

At this point, you can leave the bottom as-is or glue on a circle of felt.

There ya go! Easy as pie!

Travel Play Case

The holidays are upon us and with that means lots of travelling. It also means you're probably on a tighter budget with all the travel costs and gifts to buy. This is a great project to make for your own kids or to give as a gift! It's less than $5 and takes almost no time at all! Now let's get to it!

Now, if you're feeling a little ambitious, you can make your own little play scene with bits of scrapbook paper, like so:

I've added in some Littlest Pet Shop figurines, but you could use any you like. This is easily adjustable for different genders and ages!

Wrap it up in a bow and you're finished!

December Bow Sales Benefiting Cap Haitien Children's Home!

I love December! There are decorations to put up, gifts to buy and sweets to bake. Christmas shopping is one of my favorite things to do. It's so fun picking something out for someone that you think is perfect for them.

In all the hustle & bustle of the season, it's so easy to forget how truly blessed we are. I'm halfway through December and I have not yet made charitable giving a focus. That stops today!

Our friends Hunter & Jillian moved to Haiti to run the Cap Haitien Children's Home almost a year ago. They went there on a mission trip with no intentions of moving there and within months, they had quit their jobs and were headed to Haiti to save an orphanage. If you have five minutes, grab a box of tissues and head on over to their blog to read their story. You will not be sorry!

So, all that brings me to this:

For the entire month of December, I am donating 50% of the proceeds of every bow I sell to CHCH. This includes EVERY single bow, EVEN the Hair Bow of the Month Club.

Christmas Traditions: Combining and Starting Our Own

I have the best memories growing up of waking up Christmas morning with my brother and sister and digging into our stockings while our parents were still asleep. Once they woke up, we'd all take turns opening gifts from Santa and each other.

My husband has fond memories of spending Christmas Eve with his family, opening gifts from each other and then waking up Christmas morning to see everything Santa brought laid out under the tree.

We both had different Christmas traditions. Even though we've been married for 6 1/2 years, we haven't really established our own traditions. Now that we have a baby, it's as good a time as any!

What we had:

First difference: He opened family gifts on Christmas Eve, I didn't. He really loved doing this because it spread the fun out over two days. I didn't have any particular attachment to opening everything on Christmas morning, so we decided to stick with his tradition there.

Second difference: All of our Santa gifts were wrapped. The suspense of not knowing what you got till you ripped the paper off was half the fun! He wasn't opposed to wrapped Santa gifts, so we decided to stick with my tradition there. :)

It's a short list and only the very beginning. I'm sure there will be advents and elves a-plenty to add in later!
